How to learn death tower #1 ～various forms and initial sets～

In og puyo (or speed run), death tower is not only strong play style but also very easy to learn due to stylized procedure.

This article is for making videos of og puyo or of death tower.

what is death tower

Death tower is a kind of power chains. first, you make base of L-shape. Then you put puyos on L base.

It is advisable that L base is at 3-4 column. if L base is shifted to 1 colmn left, it is called shifted tower (ずらしタワー). if it is shifted for 2 column left, it is edge tower (端タワー).

These two are not week, but only focus to death tower, it is more difficult than L base set on 3-4 culumn.

Step 1: Let's learn initial sets of death tower template

You have to learn 1st-2nd sets so that you can make L base easily.

Make color of many puyo L base.

■AA BB

1st: 4 column vertical

2nd: 5 culumn vercical

This is easier but you lose time because of splitting. Initial sets for bigginers.

■ AA BC

1st: 4 column vertical

2nd: 5 culumn vercical

■AB AB

1st: 4-5 column horizontal

2nd: 4 culumn vercical

■AA AB and AB AA

■ABCC

1st: 5 culumn vercical

2nd: 4 column vertical

■ABCD

It is difficult tsumo.

1st: 3-4 column horizontal

2nd: If you can make red L shape, set CD to 2 column v. If you can make yellow L, set CD to 5 column.

Either situation, bet one to 2 or 5 you think is best.

Step 2: know about sort of tower

Death tower has verious style. Here is list of major forms.

[Ⅰ]primis tower

This is most basical and dawn tower shape.

Bottom two colors are separated by L base column.

[Ⅱ]secundus tower

This is rare form because 1-2 columns are dead.

[Ⅲ]tertium tower

In comparison with Ⅰ tower,  bottom color is not separated.

So you have a large spase to link puyos. And also it is easy to make 3 colors tower.

[Ⅳ]quartus tower

Ignision point is at back of L shape.

This is similar to fron style in puyo tsu.

[Ⅴ]quintus tower

When the initial set is ABAA or AAAB, you can make it altenetively. In conparison with Ⅲ tower, you can make use of same color as ignition puyo.

I will explain how-toⅤ tower on another occasion.

Step 3: Decide tower form from initial sets

Basically Ⅲ tower is said best form. So you maintain possibility of Ⅲ form.

Of course everytime you can't make Ⅲ tower. You have to choice better tower form with considering situation.

Here are examples of selecting form from initial sets.

[Ⅰ]primis tower

[Ⅲ]tertium tower

[Ⅳ]quartus tower

This form often has to weigh Ⅰ(Ⅲ) tower against Ⅳ tower.

[Ⅴ]quintus tower

You make Ⅴ tower so that you can avoid balance of Ⅳ tower initial sets.
